About us

Szlachetna Fotografia is created by the two of us – Małgorzata Bardoń and Radosław Brzozowski, PhD. We are photographic artists, researchers and educators with many years of experience.

Our main interests are classical and historical photographic processes, traditional silver photography and alternative photography. We work with these techniques ourselves on a daily basis, developing our own practice, experimenting with processes and creating our own formulas.

We are both members of the Association of Polish Art Photographers (ZPAF). For many years, we managed TSF – Tricity School of Photography, where we taught both classical and digital photography. Radosław is the author of numerous books and publications and has presented his work in many exhibitions.

Historical photography is not only a field of interest for us, but also an area of research. Radosław conducts research on historical photographic processes, and as part of Szlachetna Fotografia he also develops and tests photographic formulas and materials.

One of the most important stages of this research was a project carried out at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, at the Faculty of Conservation and Restoration of Works of Art, funded by the National Science Centre, Poland. The project focused on the development of nineteenth-century silver photographic processes. It resulted in the doctoral dissertation “The Development of Silver Photographic Processes in the 19th Century. A Description of the Characteristic Features of Individual Processes and Their Modifications”, on the basis of which Radosław received a doctoral degree in art.

Knowledge tested in practice

We develop our own formulas for traditional and alternative photographic processes and prepare and test chemicals for photographic use. Our shop also offers materials and accessories for large-format photography and historical photographic processes.

We do not simply sell materials — we use them ourselves, test them and evaluate them in real working conditions. Radosław is responsible for developing and testing new products introduced to our range. We also test the suitability of individual papers, chemicals and materials for specific techniques and photographic processes.

This means that we offer not only products, but also knowledge based on their actual use. We photograph using the materials and formulas available in our shop, which allows us to share first-hand experience rather than relying solely on manufacturers’ descriptions.

Historical photography is, for us, a living field of practice — we create, research, test and teach, and we want to share the knowledge gained through this work with others.
