Gelatines
Gelatins
Gelatin is an important material in many historical and alternative photographic processes, but the correct type should be chosen for its specific purpose. In this category you will find both specialist photographic gelatin for making emulsions and gelatin intended for sizing and preparing paper.
PG1 photographic gelatin is a high-quality inert gelatin designed primarily for the preparation of silver-gelatin emulsions, especially bromide and bromoiodide emulsions. Its properties allow greater control over the process and help reduce unwanted chemical activity and fogging.
High-hardness gelatin is intended mainly for preparing and sizing paper surfaces. It can be used in gum bichromate, carbon printing and other processes where it is important to reduce excessive absorption of solutions into the paper fibres. Its higher hardness helps create a stable surface that withstands subsequent wet processing.
In simple terms: choose PG1 for making photographic emulsions, and high-hardness gelatin for sizing and preparing paper and other supports.
