Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) is one of the most useful solvents used in historical photography. It can be used for cleaning and degreasing glass plates used for wetplate collodion as well as silver gelatin dryplates. It is also used as a solvent for cleaning and for degassing gelatin solutions such as glop used in carbon transfer.
